Sugar Busters™ Diet
This diet, like high protein diets, is based on the belief that sugar is the cause of many health woes. The proponents of sugar buster diet blames obesity on the insulin that is secreted in response to sugar. According to sugar busters, refined sugar found in cakes, candies, and sodas as well as potatoes, white flour and pasta, is toxic. Eating these types of foods causes the body to produce increased amounts of the hormone insulin, which leads to increased amounts of body fat and weight. The diet gives clear guidelines on which foods to avoid.
There are only a few things you cannot eat on this diet. They are the carbohydrates that cause an intense insulin secretion.
Eliminate potatoes, corn, white rice, bread from refined flour, beets, carrots, refined sugar, corn syrup, molasses, honey, sugared colas, and beer.
Eat fruit by itself.
Sugar Busters: Typical Menu
Excess sugar is bad. Diabetes can cause lot of health complications. Sugar also lowers HDL, "the good cholesterol." So, controlling sugar intake is a good healthy practice. Sugars are "empty calories" and cause people to be satisfied calorie-wise before they have eaten enough vegetables and fruit.
The value of lowering sugar as a weight control technique is questionable. "Sugar Busters Diet" works temporarily by reducing calories. Unfortunately, most people cannot do this for a long period of time. So, they gain the weight right back.
Lumping whole foods such as potatoes, corn, and carrots with the "forbidden" sugars makes no nutritional sense.
