This herb is used for arthritic and rheumatic conditions caused by wind, damp, and coldness; it can also be used for heat, depending on the other herbs with which it is combined with. Also useful for the treatment of generalized edema, ascites, lymphedema, and deficient mother's milk.

Stephania should not be used by those with chronic dampness or those with yin deficiency.
